Would be nice to know how many emails will go out on an email send INCLUDING any suppression lists you may have added BEFORE you send the email. This allows us to see if we are going to send to the expected number of recipients. I know when we click Send we get the confirmation with the number of emails going out, but this is the entire inclusion list without any records from the suppression lists in consideration (and of course without the Excluded Recipients)
What I'm doing is trying to get away from setting up a custom marketing list for every email send. Instead I've created re-usable marketing lists that we can use on various email sends, and then re-use some suppression lists. This allows for less temporary / one-time use only marketing lists. Do note on the suppression lists, they could include contacts outside of the parameters of the inclusion lists.
Simple Example:
Inclusion Marketing List:
Regions - NORTH, WEST, SOUTH
Suppression List:
Customer Segments - Gold, Silver (so note here that this would contain all customers in those segments, regardless of Region ... North, West, South, AND EAST. The customer segment is not related to the region. So this list does contain the EAST region).
So we just can't take the Inclusion list minus the total of the Suppression list as the suppression list contains the EAST region and would skew results.
Realizing the calculation might add to the processing time when you click Send and get the confirmation screen with the current count, perhaps a better method would be to have a ribbon option to calculate the value on demand (as you could be working with Dynamic lists). This way if you don't need to know the number of records going to be sent an email, then you don't have to use the process and it won't slow down the "Send and confirm" function.
Ideally, it would be nice to see total of the inclusion list, total of "relevant" records from the suppression list, and total of the Excluded Recipients. But just an estimated total of what would be sent would be nice, even without the Excluded Recipients.
