Why can't I set up a form so that it directly registers a participant in an event? Why do i need to go through a third party?
Keeping this inside of the CD environment would make so many things simpler, not the least of which is automation. If a person fills in a form and when they click Submit it registers them directly in an event it can then trigger whatever automation I want. At the moment, having to use the 3rd party just makes it one more place for something to go wrong, one more layer of complexity.
Through automation, I can then send them a link as necessary. I understand this wouldn't suit all situations (ie they need to pay) but if I am running a free webinar or similar, this would simplify the entire process.
I found that and tried it but couldn't get it to work

Hi Lee,
Thank you for submitting your idea. We will review it.
In the meantime, as a workaround, you can setup a workflow to create an event participation record associated to a form you've created. You will find the instructions in the following help article : https://support.clickdimensions.com/hc/en-us/articles/115001167374-Tracking-Event-Registrants-Using-Form-Submissions
