Emails sent/email interactions reactivating contacts

Currently the way your system is set up, any time an inactive contact is sent an email or interacts with any email send, it reactivates the contact. This is problematic. While our users are told to set all their contact queries (whether that is for email send marketing lists or other contact lists) to "status=active", anytime an inactive contact interacts with a CD email, it reactivates the contact. This then populates them back on the marketing list where "status=active" to potentially be sent future email sends.

While we can remove their email address and add them to the "do not email" to prevent future emails from going out, these now reactivated contacts are populating on other contact queries and makes data management and integrity impossible.

It seems that others have brought up this issue in the past (https://support.clickdimensions.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/360023331392-Inactive-Contacts-gets-activated-after-interaction) so I imagine our organization isn't the only one experiencing this issue.

Bottom line, we are inactivating these contacts for a reason - we don't delete out contact records - so your feature is inhibiting our ability to maintain clean data. Please remove this functionality.

Happy to have a call to discuss - thank you!
