When creating a action that creates sends an email or SMS, or creates a task in a campaign automation we would like be able to in addition to associating a campaign with this action to associate a campaign activity with it. This would allow for more granularity when doing reporting on the efficacy of the individual activities within a campaign as opposed to only the campaign as a whole.
It should work such that, a campaign activity should only be able to be associated with the action in campaign automation if a campaign has been selected. The campaign activity lookup field would thus behave as a filtered lookup where only campaign activities related to the selected campaign are available. If the campaign is removed from the action item, any campaign activity selected should also be removed. If not campaign is selected, the campaign activity lookup field on the action item should be disabled. These business rules would ensure valid and consistent data quality.
The selected campaign activity should be carried over to the records created when the automation processes the action item:
If the action item is send email or send SMS, the campaign activity should be related to the created Email Send or SMS Send record (new lookup field would be required on these ClickDimensions entities)
For tasks, if - when the action is performed the resulting activity record is created - a campaign activity is selected on the action item in the automation, the activity record should have the campaign activity set as its regarding object. If only a campaign is selected, the created activity record should have the campaign set as its regarding object.
