In my email campaigns, I use the hidden span technique:
https://www.campaignmonitor.com/blog/post/3628/a-practical-guide-to-email-preheaders/
The problem I have found is the tracking image is placed right after the opening body tag when it has been sent through ClickDimensions, as an example:
Before sending:
<body>
<span style="display:none !important; font-size:1px; color:#ffffff;">Preheader here</span>
After sending:
<body><img src="http://link.centralnottingham.ac.uk/o/1/94201385/t17714-838bf292-cde7-4175-831f-a6cfac997a18/test/wnzrf.juvgr/pragenyabggvatunz.np/hx" width="1" height="1" />
<span style="display:none !important; font-size:1px; color:#ffffff;">Preheader here</span>
The fact that the tracking image appears here, makes some email clients pick the http://link.centralnottingham.ac.uk as the preheader. (See the Outlook 2013 mail notification screenshot)
As I have no control over the tracking image, I would like to request that it moved elsewhere, perhaps right before the closing body tag, to prevent it getting in the way of the preheader.
