Full DMARC Alignment support

Hi,

Currently I don't believe ClickDimensions support full DMARC domain alignment.  For example if I send an email for my company the emails key fields might be:

From: marketing@company.com

Return-Path: 3741454520000000135t2616-bc167569-361a-4779-1234-e53eb810a130@email.clickdimensions.com

Because the domain roots are different, any strict anti-spam checking will fail a DMARC check.  This is known as DMARC alignment - in this case emails from Click Dimensions are not aligned to the from field.

To date, most companies will pass emails should SPF and DKIM checks validate correctly, but if they are performing strict DMARC validation, this does fail - indeed Office 365 marks this as a failure - although does not enforce it out of the box.

One solution is to allow customers to create a CNAME record to ClickDimensions, for example:

marketing.company.com IN CNAME email.clickdimensions.com

That way the email headers can be:

From: marketing@company.com

Return-Path: 3741454520000000135t2616-bc167569-361a-4779-9382-e53eb810a130@marketing.company.com

As the root domain is aligned, a full DMARC check will pass.

These guys have a nice write up of how they achieve it:

Best,

Alex
